We are very excited to introduce you to our new website: catholichub.org
! This is the new home for all our content, both videos and articles.
Although we expect most people will view our videos directly on YouTube, this website serves as a great catalogue to discover all our past and present productions and allows us to publish our videos as written articles for those who prefer this format. It will also serve as the platform for all our non-video content (such as this article) which we plan to produce in future.
We’d like to give you a brief tour of the site and highlight some of the prominent features which we believe readers will find useful.
Our content types
First of all, what you will find on our site are two main types of ‘posts’:
-
Videos
These are simply our regular YouTube videos, but published along with the transcript in a nicely-formatted post for those who prefer to read. Each post has the video embedded at the top allowing you to watch the video directly from our website.
One benefit of reading the text transcript is the additional footnotes that allow us to provide additional details or clarification of points after a video has gone live.
-
Articles
These are our text-only posts, where we either haven’t produced a video on the topic or where we are republishing existing written content, such as a third-party site or a traditional text (for example, a Papal Encyclical).
Homepage structure
The homepage of Catholic Hub is split into a series of sections:
- Latest videos
- Featured posts
- Latest articles
- Posts from a specific tag, e.g. Doctrine - this will change from time to time
Site features
There are a few nifty features that we’d like to point out:
Dark Mode: For those who prefer it, the website has a dark-mode option built into the theme, which you can toggle on and off using the moon button at the top right of the page. Dark mode will persist across the site.
Privacy-friendly comments: We use Cusdis for managing comments, to respect your privacy and avoid unnecessary tracking. No need to log in or enter an email address (but feel free to include this if you would like to hear back from us!).
Permalink headings: Every heading has a permalink built-in, allowing you to link to that specific location in the webpage - like this. You can copy the heading permalink just like any other hyperlink, via right-click (or long-press on mobile).
Smart footnotes: Where footnotes are added, you can quickly jump between the footnote and the footnote anchor by clicking the ↩ icon. Try it now: 1
Site search: Easily find the post you’re looking for using the search button. This searches the entire contents of each post, not just post titles. This is especially useful if you are looking for a video where a specific topic was mentioned.
Responsive, mobile-friendly design: Catholic Hub works just as well on smartphones and tablets as in a desktop browser, thanks to the responsive and fluid page design.
